Hey girls! Wow! this week I actually got two blog posts up! I have been working so hard on a new website and new backgrounds for my flat lay photos that my focus has not been on writing! And yes, coming soon is a fresh new website that I have done ALL by myself! I am so proud of this project! Can’t wait for you to see it. Those of you who know me know that I am married to a programmer but he has been so busy I have done this one on my own. Anyway, to get back on track, my inspiration for writing comes from my own wardrobe selections or from a conversation about something fashiony (which is quite often) or just from my everyday activities. This post was inspired by my love for the moto jacket which is in style right now and there are numerous offerings that I just wanted to share with you. I have a picture (below) from last year of myself wearing my favorite moto jacket that just so happens to be pink! I saw this picture while looking through some photos on my phone and wanted to use this on my instagram and it gave me the idea to incorporate it into a blog post! This photo is from an article I did for the EYELOVEMEMPHIS blog that is owned by Eclectic Eye; my employer at the time. The article was on how to style a graphic tee and I styled mine with my pink moto jacket from Banana Republic.
The moto jacket is another name for motorcycle jacket or biker jacket. We are all familiar with the strong look and feel of a motorcycle jacket and the original function of the male version of the jacket. Well, thankfully someone got smart and made it a part of women’s fashion. The female version assumes as much confidence as the male version. Although now instead of just thick leather you can find them in supple suede, faux leather and even knit. There are also different color choices available. A great example is the one that I own. It is a knit and a popular color. Since it is pink I have even paired it with all black to make the jacket stand out like the picture below. This is me at a photo shoot and I totally wish this was me shopping for me! Wouldn’t that be nice!
The style of the moto jacket is a little bit cropped, fitted to the body, has an offset front zipper and lots of other zippers and a belt around the bottom. They come with large and small notched collars, stand (or band) collars and no collar at all. I prefer the look of the large notched collar and no belt. If you really want the tough girl look, find one that is black leather that has a large notched collar, lots of zippers and a belt around the bottom. This would actually be really cool in a over sized version to up the ante even more.
I always say to not think too much about things and try stuff with outfits you already have in your closet. I have a few favorite ways I like to see this worn and they are with denim and a grapic t-shirt (or regular), a chiffon skirt and t-shirt (or blouse), a feminine flowy dress, wide leg trousers and cute joggers! I feel like the endless possibilities makes this a great piece to have in your wardrobe. Please check out the selections below of my favorites that I have seen this season.
