One of the most challenging things about changing seasons is knowing what to wear! Your summer clothing has you jaded and it is still too hot to wear fall clothing.  So, the daunting question: What do I wear when the seasons start to change!? I get this question A LOT, so I’m going to give you some recommendations on what I think is the best solution to this never ending dilemma.

First, go through your fall wardrobe and see what is (1.) still in style, (2.) in good condition and (3.) has been worn in the last year or two. Focus on lighter weight materials in colors more suited for fall.   Once you have these items you can decide on some new items you want to buy to freshen up your wardrobe.

Transitional Fall 2016In August and September most boutiques are filling their spaces with fall clothing and it is smoldering outside! Makes total sense right?  Not in the least.  This is just how the fashion industry works. Fortunately, designers have gotten keen on adding in some summer worthy styles to their fall collections. This makes choosing transitional pieces much easier. Here are some recommendations to consider:

  • Short sleeve/sleeveless blouses and t-shirts in new fall colors and prints
  • An off-the-shoulder blouse that is on trend for this season, which can be worn now, even with long sleeves
  • Skirts and dresses that can be worn with booties
  • Dresses that can be layered with a long sleeve shirt or worn under a blazer or sweater
  • Flats, heels and booties in delightful fall colors and wearable neutrals (see previous post Fall 2016 Pantone Colors)
  • Darker denim and knit pants (ponte knit)
  • Accessories that are trending for fall like tassel necklaces, chokers, stacked bracelets and a square scarf.

Transitional Fall 2016 2

Seasonal transitions can be a challenge, but they can be fun too!  Pieces you purchase can carry you into the cooler months when paired with a cozy sweater, warm tights and knee-high boots.  Not to mention my favorite layering piece, the blazer! When my clients purchase a Seasonal Package, all of this is taken care of for them. I put all of their outfits together and present them in the online Dressing Room.  They also have the ability to select an individual wardrobe item and look at all the outfits I have put together with it.

The photographs are examples that represent some of my recommendations. I wanted to show you the possibilities you could have to make your transitional wardrobe the best it can be. I hope you will apply these ideas to your next shopping trip and feel good about what you have to wear!
