I think I have discovered that I love writing about these designers each week because it brings me great memories of my retail days selling contemporary clothing. I am one of those nerdy fashion people that really loves to learn about designers and how they came to succeed in such a competitive industry. The things I feel that make a great brand are the quality of their design, the quality of their fabrics and that they stick to their brand image. One of the brands that I really admire with these qualities is Trina Turk. I can pick out something designed by Trina Turk a mile away because she has stayed true to what her brand is and the quality of the fabrics and designs remains unchanged.
Trina Turk is an actual Californian and she started the company in 1995 with her husband. They opened their first brick and mortar location in 2002 and now have eleven boutiques. Trina Turk designs are bold and colorful and each collection has it’s own signature prints and punchy hues. The California environment of creativity, multicultural mix, architecture, landscape and craftsmanship all collide to inspire the contemporary designs each season. I most identify her brand by the beautiful prints and imaginative colors that are so carefully ingrained on each item in her collections.
