Cocktail Jackets;Problem Solved!

Hey ladies! I am writing a quick post on what I recommend to wear over a cocktail dress. I had a client that struggled to find something to keep her warm when she was going to cocktail parties.  Well, I know that most women are cold ALL THE TIME so  I decided that other woman may need a solution for this as well.  I like solving these types of problems for people, so if this is you too then please keep reading! A simple pashmina is a great solution to cover the arms but is really not a great solution for warmth.  For those that need a little more warmth  faux fur, sequins and velvet are great solutions. These materials are considered luxurious and therefore…

How To Style Layers

Hello girlies!  I promised I would do a follow up post on the cute tie neck sweater (also in pink and ivory as well) I wore for Thanksgiving so I’m bringing it to you now.  This sweater is way more versatile than I thought!  I wore it by itself on Thanksgiving because the temperature outside was somewhat warm but my favorite way to wear it is layered.  I think layering brings so much more interest to an outfit. My first layering choice for this J Crew Tie Neck Sweater is to put a collard button down underneath the sweater with some cute shoes; a fun pair of booties or sneakers would work perfectly! I like my blush pink booties with it and especially like to…

Crushing on Camo

Hello Everyone! I hope you had a great Thanksgiving break and did lots of great shopping!  I shopped for the first time in 20 years on Black Friday and it was a blast.  We now have 4 weeks until Christmas! Sometimes it’s 5 weeks depending on how Thanksgiving falls.  I look forward to Christmas coming but I don’t look forward to winter. I love fall and it just doesn’t last long enough. There is a very specific time of year that the leaves change and my favorite tree turns bright yellow.  Some seasons it’s more yellow than others. This tree is the Ginkgo tree.  I have one in my yard and just learned last year about what is called “Night of the Ginkgo”.  This is…

Turkey and Dressing in Bows!

It’s almost Turkey day ladies!  If you are like me you will be hosting a lot of family and friends that day.  I can’t wait! This is the start of my favorite time of year.  I love decorating the house and cooking great food and sharing it with others. Today I want to share with you what I will be wearing on this lovely day.  If you know me personally or follow my blog you will know that my style of clothing is very casual and my family is even more casual! My husbands family are who we host for Thanksgiving since mine live out of town and they are people in the music and sound industry so dressy is out the window and…

Designer of the Week: Lilla P

My Designer of the Week pick for this week is Lilla P!  This is a personal favorite of mine from my years of clothing retail.  I feel like this is another wonderful brand that is missed by so many people.  Lilla P got it’s start with a basic everyday tee in 1998 and has grown into a full line of essentials and other fashionable items to mix in with your wardrobe.  Being masters of fit and function, it is not surprising that they also use high quality, luxurious fabrics to create their pieces. I can personally attest to the quality because I still have some of my Lilla P sweaters and t-shirts from 3 or 4 years ago and they still look brand new!  I…

The Menswear-Inspired Blazer (I heart)

I heart the menswear inspired blazer! I have actually been looking for one for myself that I love and realized I already have one in my closet that I totally forgot about. This seems to happen the more clothing I accumulate!  My blazer is from Banana Republic and I purchased it months ago while shopping with a client for her spring wardrobe. It was on the sale rack and was such a good deal I could not pass it up. Oh, and not to mention it is super cute and olive green! What is it that defines the menswear-inspired blazer?  It is the marriage of men’s structure and masculine style to women’s feminine details and chic styling. The details of the menswear-inspired blazers are shoulder…

Designer of the Week: Z Supply

This designer is very fitting for me to talk about this week.  I have just recently discovered this brand and think that it is really cute and has a lovely price point.  The reason it is so fitting is that the styles just suit my current lifestyle.  Z Supply specializes in great essentials that will mix well into your existing wardrobe.  The clothing style is comfortable and casual but has a snappy look to it.  I was recently shopping with a client and we went to a store in Collierville, TN called Loni’s Fashions, which is the cutest little “hidden gem” in the city that has been in business for 30 years!  That is such an accomplishment for a small business that I am speechless.  Anyway,…
